The variety of scent interpretation is limitless.

PITTI OLFACTIVE HIGHLIGHTS

The brand image and their packaging at Pitti 2023 was held more in a minimalistic way, as Headspace for example. Grammatical Drammatik, on the contrary has a 90s design with noticeable colour

ESXCENCE OLFACTIVE HIGHLIGHTS

The Esxcence 2024 was held in an even bigger space than the previous years giving space to over 300 brands to show their creativity. It was an immersion of stimuli for the eyes and the nose. What stroke out the most, is the intensiveness of oud everywhere and especially the minimalistic and dark/gold packaging. Showcasing exclusivity and premium.

WHAT WHERE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES?

Firstly, the inclusion of an Oud accord in fragrance portfolios remains crucial to meet consumer demands. Oud continues to captivate enthusiasts, showcasing its enduring popularity. It gave rise to also use Incense and saffron in a more sophisticated and new way.

Floral notes continue to reign supreme, with Narcotic white florals being indispensable for many brands. However, there's also a trend towards exploring new floral elements such as Mimosa, often infused with subtle aldehydic or lactonic nuances, adding depth to fragrances.

The evolution of gourmand scents is evident, transitioning from stickier compositions at Pitti to a more pronounced focus on vanilla at Esxence. This shift possibly reflects a desire to evoke stronger olfactory memories, particularly rooted in childhood experiences, resonating on a global scale.

Additionally, fragrances featuring Orange-flower with Methylanthranilate were prevalent, either in solidarity with salicylates or in more intimate blends with musky undertones.

Red fruits, especially cherry, emerged as must-have elements this year. Masstige notable launches already used the ingredient such as Juliette has a Gun's Juliette and Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium Over Red. These cherry accords were sometimes complemented by almond facets, imparted by benzaldehyde.

One notable disparity between Esxence and Pitti was the prevalence of straight green notes at Esxence, alongside pyrazine and buttery aspects reminiscent of food ingredients like popcorn, pistachio, and hazelnuts. These daring choices suggest a willingness to push boundaries and evoke unconventional sensory experiences.

WHICH EXHIBITOIN INFLUENCES TRENDS THE MOST?

Both exhibitions exert significant influence on new launches across the mass-market, masstige, and luxury fragrance sectors. Esxence, with its larger audience, serves as a rich source for discerning trends within the niche fragrance market. Its broad scope allows for the deduction of emerging tendencies and preferences among fragrance enthusiasts. While Pitti, gives rise to have a lot of conversations with many brands and even exploring some that do not have a big audience.

While both exhibitions feature some overlapping brands, Pitti's timing later in the year offers a glimpse into fragrances set to launch towards the year's end and Esxence acts as a trendsetter for the year. This sequential arrangement enables brands to unveil their latest creations to a captivated audience, ensuring anticipation and excitement for upcoming releases.

To conclude, both exhibitions are amazing and worth to go there to make meaningful connections and stimulate the eyes and nose and leaving attendees inspired by the diversity of fragrance brands.
